Introduction Pat Manley Biographical Overview
Pat Manley is a forty year
resident of Central Ohio. A graduate of the Ohio State University, Pat is an Ohio
licensed architect, President of Manley Architecture Group, LLC, past
President of the Ohio Association of Licensed Architects (ALA) and ALA
national board member, as well as, a former Columbus
Italian Village Commissioner. In keeping with his long history of leadership, he was
elected to the Ohio State University Knowlton School Alumni Society Board of
Governors, focusing on alumni outreach and fund-raising, continuing a
lifetime of leadership roles that began in high school from a deep desire to
serve others. He also served two terms as Treasurer. Pat has ties with both Bishop Watterson High School and
St. Charles Preparatory Academy as the parent of former students. Pat grew up in Appalachia in the Ohio Valley's poor
coal and steel region along the Ohio River. After graduating from St. John
Central High School in Bellaire, Ohio, he worked his way through college,
typically working two part-time jobs, and occasionally three to pay for
college tuition. After graduation he remained in Columbus, by choice,
eventually starting his own business in 1985. Experience and Qualifications As a small business owner in the architecture and
construction industry, Pat has many years of experience with leading teams,
planning, budgets, managing finances and hiring employees. He spends much of
each day negotiating solutions and working relationships between individuals,
companies and public entities that have widely varied agendas and priorities.
Budget creation and oversight is the backbone of a successful building
project and a healthy business. This experience spans over three decades, and
has instilled a genuine appreciation for business issues, employee needs, job
creation, safety, education, healthcare and public responsibilities. Much of
his work involves the design and construction of complex and highly regulated
skilled nursing facilities, assisted living residences, universal design,
accessible buildings and medical facilities. Over the past twenty years, Pat has also taught as an
adjunct instructor in the Construction Sciences Department at Columbus State
Community College. This experience has led to his strong advocacy for local
schools and school choice. Pat has mentored numerous students and stays in
regular contact with a number of graduates now pursuing successful careers in
their respective fields. Pat has been a member of the Board of Directors for the
50+ employee, nationally ranked remodeling company, Dave Fox Design Build for
over 20 years, serving as the chairman for seven, overseeing the ownership
transition from the company founder to an ESOP, employee
owned company. Dave Fox now has 80+ employees, a four-fold increase
during his tenure. Since that time, the company has increased revenue twelve fold and reduced overhead by nearly twenty percent,
which is a testament to his commitment to fiscal responsibility that he will
bring to the office of Lt. Governor if elected. During his ten year term as
President of the Ohio Chapter of the Association of Licensed Architects, Pat
established high standards for continuing education and ethics for
architects, students and interns across the state. Locally Pat is a member of several business and
volunteer organizations. Community Outside of his career, Pat has been involved in
community projects and relationships that will translate to support in the
district. Involvement has ranged from fund-rising for storm victims, to
Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners for the elderly and disadvantaged, to the
preservation of the historic firehouse in Clintonville, to a Short North
Business Association committee that provided input to the Greater Columbus
Convention Center design competition jury, to various school and church
projects, as well as personal interests in the area of cancer research and
support services for families and individuals who have lost loved ones,
especially children, including the Cornerstone of Hope. Over the years he coached youth baseball, volunteered
on community and business association projects and advocated for families,
seniors, children and issues related to domestic abuse, veterans, drug
dependency, and human-trafficking. Personal In 2011, Pat was diagnosed with a rare form of
leukemia. Being in the right place at the right time allowed him to receive
unequaled care from both Riverside Hospital and the James Cancer Hospital at
the Ohio State University. His encounter with a serious disease gives him a
unique perspective on healthcare as an advocate, a consumer and a patient.
This experience only served to strengthen his lifelong commitment to
important health issues ranging from protecting unborn children, to
preventative care, to hospice. After personally struggling with the financial
setback of high medical costs and an inability to work during his illness and
recovery, Pat is spearheading a plan to help assist other Ohioans from
financial ruin as a result of serious medical conditions. Pat has worked in leadership roles both small and
large, never afraid to be hands-on. He is accessible and in direct
communication with those he serves and to whom he is responsible. Summary As a candidate for Lt. Governor, Pat's experience, work
ethic, optimism, and strong desire to truly represent his fellow Ohioans are
strong qualifications. His background provides the assurance he will
represent our communities with integrity and honesty. As a conservative
Republican with a long history in many successful campaigns and ballot
issues, he understands the seriousness of the educational, fiscal and
personal issues facing Ohioans today. Pat's reason for running is to give a voice to the
working Ohioans. No one is listening to their problems. Unlike candidates who
profess to have the answers, he will help clear the path so they can
implement real solutions to the problems they understand better than anyone
from the outside. |
